NCB Requirements for Certified Family Peer Support Specialists Supervisor

All training for initial certification must have been completed within the past five years. Continuing education for certification renewals needs to be completed within the renewal period.

Track A: Peers With Lived Experience

Track B: Non-Peers

Approved Peer Supervisor Training

Be a certified PRSS for at least two years.

 

Approved Peer Supervisor Training

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social science and two years working in the field of family peer support, OR a master’s degree in social science and one year working in the field of family peer support.

Both Track A and B

  • Maximum number of peers to supervise – 10
  • Must meet with each supervisee 2 times monthly. This can be done individually, or in a group setting.
  • May serve as a “satellite” peer supervisor
  • Code of Ethics for Family Peer Support Specialist Supervisor
  • Residency Requirement (Must live and/or work in Nevada at least 51% of the time)
  • Recertification: A renewal fee of $75 and 20 hours of continuing education in family peer support supervision and/or the Family Peer Support Competencies,
  • If you are providing direct services as a FPSS to clients, it is necessary to have a supervisor regardless of FPSS-S status.

For all continuing education hours, please submit a certificate of attendance or participation from an approved training organization that includes the following information:

  • Name of training organization(s) and/or sponsor(s)
  • Title of training/conference
  • Date(s) of training/conference
  • Name of participant/attendee
  • Hours of attendance/participation
