CHW Early Childhood Education (ECE) Endorsement for NCB Certified CommunityHealth Workers

Initial Requirements
  • Current NCB CHW certification
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Additional Training: 25 hours total – acquired in the past 2 years
    • Mind in the Making – 16 hours
    • Early Childhood Toxic Stress – Two (2) hours
    • Child Abuse and Neglect – Two (2) hours
    • Child Development– One (1) hour identification of resources and
      materials to support specific population and how to refer for
      Developmental Delays
    • Child Wellness – Four (4) hours – Practices that foster the physical
      and social-emotional well-being of children and support the healthy
      practices of families including obesity prevention, breastfeeding
      practices, physical activity, oral health promotion, healthy food
      choices, screen-time reduction, and social-emotional support.
  • Experience: 300 hours
    • 290 hours of direct services working with parents and/or children in an EC setting. All 285 hours must be monitored and verified by a supervisor. Work experience must have been completed in the past 2 years.
    • Two (2) hours in assessment/screening with children
    • Five (5) hours building relationships with families
    • Three (3) hours in coaching for parents
  • Signed code of ethics
  • Application Fee ($50.00)

Renewal Requirements: 20 hours of Nevada Registry approved training every two
years and a renewal fee of $20.00

All training for initial certification must have been completed within the past five years. Continuing education for certification renewals needs to be completed within the renewal period.
