Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS)

What is a Certified Prevention Specialist?

A certified prevention specialist addresses risk and protective factors to build resilient, healthy and equitable communities through a public health model and sustainable change. The Certified Prevention specialist engages with all sectors of a community to ensure funders, service providers, governments, and the community at large are delivering evidence-based prevention and evidence-informed. Prevention specialists demonstrate a thorough understanding of prevention science to include cutting-edge practices, substance misuse and behavioral health trends, social determinants of health and other applicable risk and protective factors.
