Peer Recovery Support Specialist Supervisor (PRSS-S)

NCB Requirements for Peer Recovery Support Specialist Supervisor Certifications

All training for initial certification must have been completed within the past five years. 
 

Track A: Peers With Lived Experience

Track B: Non-Peers

Approved Peer Supervisor Training

Be a certified PRSS for at least two years.


Approved Peer Supervisor Training

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and two years working in the field of behavioral health, OR a master’s degree and one year working in the field of behavioral health.
 

 

Both Track A and B

  • Maximum number of peers to supervise – 8
  • Must meet with each supervisee biweekly
  • Meet with the entire group of supervisees monthly
  • Observations of each supervisee quarterly
  • Supervision template and mentorship agreement (found in Resources tab)
  • May serve as a “satellite” peer supervisor
  • Code of Ethics for Peer Recovery Support Specialist Supervisor
  • Residency Requirement (Must live or work in Nevada at least 51% of the time)
  • Recertification: A renewal fee of $50 and 20 hours of continuing education in peer recovery and support supervision and/or the IC&RC Peer Recovery Domains, including 6 hours of Ethics training in peer recovery and support.
  • If you are providing direct services as a PRSS to clients, it is necessary to have a supervisor regardless of PRSS-S status.
