Community Health Worker (CCHW) II Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Nevada Division of Public And Behavioral Health (DPBH) approved CHW training
- 44 hours of approved continuing education, completed within the past five years:
- 20 Hours of general continuing education
- 8 hours of behavioral health training (mental health and/or substance use, and/or alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) training)
- 8 hours of health equity and/or community organizing (may include social determinants of health)
- 6 hours of cultural competency/cultural humility and/or NCB approved ethics training)
- 1 hour of self-care/burnout prevention
- 1 hour of HIPPA training
- 500 hours of relevant work experience (see CCHW Roles and Sub-roles document)
- 50 hours of closely supervised experience in CCHW competency areas
- Signed code of ethics
- All candidates must attest to the following:
- I understand that in order to be employed as a CCHW, I may be required by my employer to complete a CPR/first aid training course, obtain a TB test, and submit to a background check.
- Certification fee of $150
- Residency Requirement:
- You must live or work in Nevada at least 50% of the time to be certified by the Nevada Certification Board and to maintain that certification.
