Patricia L. Anderson

Director of Environmental Health, Safety & Security, Great Basin College

Pat joined Great Basin College in 2001 after a successful 23 year career in the Reno, Nevada Hotel-Casino industry as a Director of Security and Risk Manager. During that part of her career, Pat was the first female appointed as a Director of Security in a Nevada Hotel-Casino. Since joining Great Basin College Pat has moved from being the Health & Safety Officer to Director of Environmental Health, Safety and Security with responsibility for all Great Basin College locations within the 86,000 mile service area of the college. This responsibility includes being assigned as the Civil Rights/Title IX investigator and one of the primary first responders for the Behavioral Intervention Team. Pat has learned to use the technology of Great Basin College classrooms to her advantage, interviewing students and meeting with staff via interactive video systems, when timely response is needed and driving may take too long for the needs of the person in crisis. During the past several years Pat has attended the ASIST training programs and put into practice many of the tools and strategies taught in those sessions. Last year she attended NaBITA Behavioral Intervention assessment training and is now certified to evaluate the threat levels of a person in crisis to themselves, to others and to property.
